Preview BOOK REPORT "Down the Yukon"

I'm preparing a book report a bout the book "Down the Yukon" by Will Hobbs. I chose this book because...
In this posting I would like to give you a little preview
what the book is about. I hope you'll get interested and read it. I think it is dead good.
Well, ...

Amid the shouts and the cheers and the splashing of oars, it was pandemonium. "Nome or bust!" Jason yelled. In the shadow of the Arctic Circle, Dawson City is burning, changing forever the lives of thousands in the Klondike goldfields. All the talk is of Nome, nearly two thousand miles away, where gold has been discovered in the beach sands. Jason Hawthorn is itching to join the new rush. He and his brothers have been cheated out of their sawmill, and Jason has vowed to buy it back. A race to Nome has been announced, with a $20,000 prize. Jason's partner in his canoe is the girl he loves, Jamie Dunavant, freshly returned from the States as she promised she would. The Great Race across Alaska will be a grueling test for the two of them as they face the hazards of the Yukon River, two very dangerous men, and the terrors of the open sea. My community Perg

Perg has got about 7.600 inhabitants and it is thecapital of the district Perg. The mayor of Perg is a member of the social democrats and his name isAnton Froschauer. The total area of Perg is 27 squarekilometres and its elevation is 250 metre.

Some neighbouring towns are: Naarn, Münzbach, Arbing, Schwertberg, Alleheiligen, Windhaag, ...

In Perg there are a lot of big companies like HABAU, PETSCHL, SYNTHESA, MANNER, ... which are very important for the economy in Perg.

If you want to go shopping, you have to go to our shopping centre, which isn't very big unfortunately. Even so you can buy there a lot of things you need, but if you don't find something you need, you have to look for it in one of the shops in the city or you have to go to Mauthausen, Linz, etc. In the city there are a lot of good restaurants and you can go to a cafe.

There are also some possibilities for your freetime. Perg has got a lot of football grounds, a outdoor and a indoor swimmingpool, a youth centre, a tennis and squash centre, a fitness centre, a skaterpark, many bikeways, hiking trails and so on.
